We are pleased to feature upcoming wellness sessions hosted by both the Kidney Wellness Hub and the Kidney Foundation. The cost of all classes and webinars is covered by the Foundation and its partners. Addresses are collected to provide provincial and regional opportunities. Grow Gratitude

When you register, you will receive a series of daily emails over the next two weeks. Each with prompts and a short 2-minute video designed to help you explore gratitude as a simple yet powerful daily practice for supporting wellbeing and resilience.

Through these guided reflections and daily prompts, you will be encouraged to notice moments of meaning, connection, hope, and everyday wins — even while living with the challenges of kidney disease.

Gratitude is a well-studied practice that can support mental, emotional, and physical health. Regular gratitude practice may help reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep, lift mood, and strengthen feelings of connection and wellbeing.

These short daily reflections are designed to fit easily into your day and support you in becoming more grounded, present, and connected along your wellness journey.

Exercise Snacks

Dates: Mondays, Apr 13 - Jun 29
Time: 5:30-6:00pm PST

The virtual Exercise Snacks plan was created to help everyone build more movement in their day, promoting better kidney health and overall wellbeing. Exercise Snacks are 2-10 minute bouts of movement following each meal. This plan will help build your strength, stability, and endurance and reduce your potential risk of injury while walking. Join us twice a month and learn to increase your daily activity easily.

Participants can book an online individual session with a senior kinesiology student to receive a personalized plan and join every two weeks for a progress check-in.

When Donor Outreach Gets Tough

Date: Tuesday, June 2
Time: 5:30-7:00 pm PT

This session is for people who have started doing donor outreach but have not yet found a living kidney donor. It’s common for people in this situation to feel stuck, discouraged, or just unsure of what to do next. In this session, we’ll offer ideas on how to continue with donor outreach as well as ways to handle the emotions that come with this process.

Kidney Rhythm and Groove

Date: Wednesday, Jun 3, 10, 17, 24
Time: 6:00-6:30pm PT

‍This introductory dance program can be done standing or seated and is designed to strengthen everyday movements – bending, standing up, lifting, pushing, and pulling. This session is a blend of aerobic and resistance work, which stimulates brain function, helping you build balance, coordination, and overall wellbeing. It has been adapted for people living with kidney disease, featuring easy-to-follow dance steps that safely engage the whole body while fostering fun, growth, and confidence with each motion.

Laughter Playshop

Date: Tuesdays, July 7 & 14
Time: 1:00-1:45pm PT

Laughter is fun, therapeutic, and contagious! Enjoy one or all four of these playshops that teach you how to use laughing yoga. Learn this life tool to better assist you in building resilience and navigating life’s challenges with a positive mental attitude. It’s a great way to reduce anxiety, stress, and even depression.

In these playshops, Sylvie will guide us through easy laughing yoga, a feel-good practice that combines intentional laughter with simple breathing and light movement. You don’t need any special skills or even a sense of humour, just a willingness to try.

Laughing yoga is welcoming, inclusive, and creates a sense of connection. It is suitable for people living with chronic illness, care partners, and anyone looking for a simple way to add joy and stress relief to their day. You can participate standing or seated, and you’re always encouraged to listen to your body.

Connecting with others who share living with kidney disease can be incredibly beneficial. It offers a sense of community and understanding that may be hard to find elsewhere, as people facing the same challenges can empathize on a deeper level.

Kidney Wellness Coaching

Date: Book to suit your schedule

Location: Online

Kidney wellness coaching can improve both physical and mental health through sustainable lifestyle changes, and to support the kidney community, the Kidney Wellness Hub is pleased to provide up to three sessions with coach Francine (bio below). In Canada, wellness coaching can range from $50-$200 an hour, but the Wellness Hub is offering free sessions with cost coverage by the Kidney Foundation and partners.

Clinical trials and studies show wellness coaching can have a significant impact on reducing risk factor behaviours and increasing healthy lifestyle choices for those with chronic disease. Results also show these changes improve quality of life through increased self-efficacy, a decrease in perceived stress levels, and lowered depression symptoms*. Patients, care givers and living donors are encouraged to apply for this opportunity.
