Low Sodium Barbeque Sauce

Save some money on your food budget and avoid waste by making this quick and healthy barbecue sauce in the amount you need for your family.

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz no salt added tomato sauce

  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tsp fresh ground black pepper

  • 4 tbsp brown sugar (packed)

  • 2 ½ tbsp sugar

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp ground mustard

  • 1 ½ tsp lemon juice

  • 1 ½ tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • ½ cup water

Instructions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and whisk until well blended.

  2. Bring mixture to a boil over medium heat, whisking occasionally.

  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for approximately 1 hour, stirring periodically to prevent sticking.

  4. Continue cooking until the sauce has reduced by half to about 1 ½ cups and reaches your desired consistency.

  5. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before using or storing.
