Air-Fried Tofu
Portions: 1-2
Prep Time: 2 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Air-fried tofu is a simple and delicious plant-based protein option offering a crispy texture with less added oil.
Ingredients:
150 grams firm tofu (extra firm works too)
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 tsp tamari (or soy sauce or coconut aminos)
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp garlic powder (NOT garlic salt)
2 tbsp water
Oil to spray (optional, but adds crispness)
Instructions:
Break the tofu into bite-sized pieces with your hands or cut it into cubes.
Make a slurry and coating with all the ingredients except oil.
Toss the tofu pieces until all are coated.
Add to a baking sheet and lightly spray on top with oil. (Alternatively, you could add the oil to the slurry/coating when you toss.)
Air fry at 380°F for 10 minutes, or add 2 minutes if you want it a bit more brown and/or crispy.*
Note: This recipe is based on a non-stick air fryer that looks like a toaster oven, but if you have the basket kind, feel free to give it a shake halfway through.
Storage:
Store leftovers in the refrigerator for 2–3 days, or in the freezer for up to 1 month.
