About the Kidney Foundation
The Kidney Foundation has over 50 years of history dedicated to serving kidney patients and their families. Here at the BC and Yukon Branch, we have a small team of staff which is augmented by 12 Volunteer Chapters which support kidney patients with a number of critical programs and services, funding for research and increased awareness and education to those at risk for kidney disease. Why a Kidney Wellness Hub?
We conducted a survey with kidney patients, caregivers and health care providers at the end of 2019 to better understand the needs of the kidney community.
What YOU told us:
Greater access to online wellness tools and information to support your health and wellbeing was needed
The ability to connect online and feel part of a community was needed
A trusted spot to engage with resource experts was needed
We listened to YOU. Our kidney community was the impetus behind the Kidney Wellness Hub. Our vision was influenced by what you told us. We created a dynamic online repository of customized kidney wellness information to support kidney patients and caregivers. A safe, inclusive and welcoming space, where patients and caregivers can come together and build a virtual community.
External consultation was sought throughout the development of the Kidney Wellness Hub. Feedback and input from the kidney community were managed through focus groups, surveys and advisory groups. Outreach and consultations were done with renal key stakeholders and the Division of Family Practice Units to help ensure those newly diagnosed with kidney disease know the Kidney Foundation exists and can help. The Kidney Wellness Hub is here to serve our entire kidney community, and we are proud to add this to the resources offered by the Kidney Foundation. We welcome your feedback and will continue to seek the input of our kidney community as we grow the Kidney Wellness Hub.

Our Funding Partner
The BC and Yukon Branch would like to recognize and thank the BC Ministry of Health for its funding of the Kidney Wellness Hub. The development of the Kidney Wellness Hub would not have been possible without the support of the BC Government.
Patient Partners
A big thank you to all kidney patients, caregivers and health care providers for your input and feedback on the development of the Kidney Wellness Hub. In the coming months, we will continue to build wellness content and initiatives that reflect the diversity of our kidney community. We will create several Patient/Caregiver Advisory Committees to support these efforts.
If you are interested in joining an Advisory Committee and want more information, please email kidneywellnesshub@kidney.ca.
